So I confess, I’ve thought if I really wanted to make a few million dollars, I’d think of some kind of exotic looking new product for back pain or headaches because people would buy it in hopes of an easy, magical fix. It would make sure it looked weird, exotic, and I’d make wild claims about the miracle healing it would afford. And, of course, it would be a lie.
Don’t buy STUFF to FIX YOUR PAIN.
You are no dummy, but there are some out there who will buy a new mattress, a very strangely shaped pillow, a magnetic shoe insert, an electrical “Miracle Abs without exercising” device, and an odd looking back brace in hopes of fixing their back pain, neck pain, or headaches…
DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY – Some of this stuff is expensive. I had a patient spend $6,000 on some super special “heal-your-whatever” mattress. It didn’t fix her… You can get a TON of top level structural work on your spine for $6,000, and you would be focusing on the causes of your pain rather than trying to magically make it disappear.
A SIMPLE, LOGICAL thought about this. If there was some product that worked, it would be the only product out there because word would get around. Everybody would buy. Plus, there’d be no need to advertise it since it’s the only thing that truly works.
There’s no magic device.
Chiropractic doesn’t work all the time. If it did, there’d be nobody else working on solving back problems. Some back pain cases are surgical, need a type of therapy that I don’t have in the clinic, or some will simply resolve themselves if you go home and treat it properly. I have the good fortune to be able to pick the cases I will accept, and give advice to those who aren’t chiropractic cases.
