New Patient Frequently Asked Questions

How much will the first visit cost?

A consultation with Dr. Neal is $29.

If Dr. Neal thinks that your case is a medical or surgical case, or if you need a special study like an MRI scan, he will refer you to the proper person to get it checked. He doesn't make anything on those cases but he gets a lot of direct referrals from consultations that he sent out for proper care because they know he will treat their friends and family right so it works out well.

If, during your consultation, Dr. Neal determines that your case is chiropractic, then we will do an exam and maybe x-rays. If you choose to become a patient then we will apply the consultation charge towards the initial examination.

The total cost depends on the case obviously, but we will explain all the charges and what your insurance will cover before we begin any procedures. No surprises.

Does my insurance cover chiropractic?

This one is a more complex question than you would think. It takes an experienced person and a page of questions to get the right answer to this question because we have to know the coverage of every service you might need, and health insurance plans have different coverage for the exam, the chiropractic adjustment, physical therapy, and massage. Since we do all these services, we certainly owe it to you to give you a precise answer to your question.

If you are not a chiropractor patient at the Neal Clinic in Pensacola and you would like to know about your insurance coverage, just give us a call and we can take the information and verify your exact coverage for you before you come in. It's a service we provide at no charge because you should know your exact coverage before we begin chiropractic care.

How soon can I get a consultation with the doctor?

We keep appointments open for new chiropractic patients every day. You can usually get an appointment to see Dr Neal within two days, and often the same day if we've had a cancellation.

What if I need x-rays?

Not everyone needs x-rays, but we have an x-ray facility in the Pensacola clinic if you need them done. If you have had x-rays or an MRI scan made at another facility, we can call and have them fax the reports to us and we can use them instead of taking more.

What if I'm not sure if the problem is a chiropractic problem?

Neither of us knows if I can help your problem, but when you come in for a consultation you can show me exactly where it hurts and tell me the specifics of how it started. Then I'll tell you if yours is a chiropractic case or if you should get a medical consult or have other testing done.

What is a DACAN?

It stands for Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Academy of Neurology. It is one of the Board Certifications in Neurology that is recognised by the American Chiropractic Association. A Board Certified Chiropractic Neurologist is different from a medical neurologist because we are Functional Neurologists. We work to correct the function within the nervous system, whether it's in the brain, the spinal cord, or the nerves throughout the body. We don't rely on medications and we don't do neurosurgery. If you require those, we will refer you to the proper specialist.

What can I expect during my first visit?

The first visit generally takes about 45 minutes to an hour. First, you will fill out new chiropractic patient paperwork. Then you will discuss your issues with Dr. Neal and another member of the staff. Depending on your situation, Dr. Neal may recommend having x-rays taken. If you have had x-rays or other diagnostic scans done recently, he may be able to use those. Then, Dr. Neal will make his recommendations for treatment, at which time you decide how you would like to proceed.
